I have opened an AT & T Tilt aka HTC Kaiser tynn. My question is how do I get the software from T-Mobile and AT & T software?
I try to sell this phone and it’s confusing for potential buyers. T-Mobile, where their Sims on the inside and it still shows AT & T software is unlocked, otherwise it would ask for a PUK or SIM card message.
I unlocked myself when the contract was requested and obtained the PUK used old SIM card from T-Mobile. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

This indicates that the phone is not really open, and it can not work with prepaid SIM cards.

No, you do not put any old SIM card in a mobile phone and hope it works. If the card is not linked to an account with a service provider, you do not receive a service (except maybe 911).
And yes, this article has nothing to do (now) with Sprint. Sprint is not GSM, do not use SIM cards, and thus “an unlocked phone” is a term that applies.
